Presentation

Educational Council

It is composed of about ten members and is in charge of examining the institutions willing to become EABHES members. Each programme in each institution is drawn up noted up and analysed in order to determine the European level that can be attributed to it. The Council checks the truthfulness of each dossier and can ask the schools for further information if necessary. Members of the Council are professionals from the teaching body who know thoroughly the European educational system.

Professional Council

Eminent members from each socio-professional category sit on the Professional Committee. They ensure harmony between European educative systems and the ever-evolving professional world. Needs and requirements of each major socio-professional category are considered and examined. The Council can present the Educational Council and the Board of directors with reforms linked to the professional world.

Disciplinary Council

It makes sure that each member agrees with EABHES philosophy. It sees to it that each member abides by EABHES policy and procedures. It observes the good running of the School curricula and regularly examines the advertising, web sites and assertions put forward by the accredited establishments. The Council guarantees the organisation's deontology and the quality of the teaching provided by the accredited institutes. It is composed of between five to seven members from the Board of directors. The Heads of accredited institutions are not allowed to attend. The Council's decisions are binding: it can ask the Board of directors for the expulsion of an institution on the grounds of repetitive fault or misleading advertising.

Conditions for the admission of a candidate school

The school or institution must be part of a country member of the Council of Europe. It must have at least ten years' experience in higher education teaching, except for derogations decided by EABHES Board of directors. The degrees being prepared must of a level higher or equal to two, three, four or five years of studies depending on the level of integration, individual workload and the level of requirements in each program. The degrees prepared must be graded as equivalent as a European Bachelor, European Master or European Doctorate, ie from 180 to 300 Ects credits.

The quality of the candidate institution applying for accreditation is essential and its success rate at exams is a significant criterion.

This success rate is checked every three years. Therefore, at the end of each year, every school must present EABHES with its annual results for each exam offered and indicate the number of attending students and number of failures.

Any institution wishing to apply for membership must write to the following address:
EABHES EUROPE
Conseil Pédagogique
116, rue du Bac
75007 Paris
France

Accreditation

An application file is sent to each School applying for accreditation. The application files are examined every two months by a commission called to meet for that purpose. If the file is regarded as being "eligible" a national delegate will pay a visit to the School, and will provide it with tables and charts to be completed concerning the various study courses; tables that include the total number of hours of classes in the different subjects, the number of weeks of teaching per year, the number of years, the number of internships, the theoretical and practical teaching provided, etc.

Theses tables are to be addressed to the Educative Council who decides to award accreditation or not and fix the level: Bachelor's degree, Master's degree or Doctorate degree. E.A.B.H.E.S. then sends the school for every accredited programme, a system of reference both in the taught language programme and in English language. The new member is then entered in the list of members and receives application forms for its students.

Communication and advertising

It is in the interest of the school to communicate the fact that a student has the possibility of pursuing a double diploma in the accredited School. A student who hesitates between two schools should prefer an accredited institution that will offer him more opportunities in the future. If the school advertises via the Press or using multimedia supports is compelled to include EABHES logo and to explain at least once in the ad that EABHES stands for European Accreditation Board of Higher Education School.

Any misleading advertising is obviously forbidden. The degree prepared must be fully stated without ambiguity. In case of misleading advertising or false allegations the Disciplinary Council will immediately be called upon and the incriminated institution would risk loosing its accreditation and be expelled from the list of members.

Enrolment of students for a Bachelor, Master or PhD

The enrolment of students in the double degree is highly recommended on the first year of the programme along with their enrolment in the initial training course, it will conduct the student to feel the European reality.
